Consolidated
Disposal Service, L.L.C... is the Los Angeles County
operating division and wholly owned subsidiary of
Republic Services, Inc. Republic, the nation’s
third largest solid waste services provider, has consolidated
several of the premiere solid waste and recycling
companies in Southern California into a highly effective,
cohesive unit. Additionally, Consolidated is able
to draw on the significant resources of our Orange
County sister company, Taormina Industries, which
services approximately 1,000,000 residential and commercial
customers in the Counties of Orange and San Bernardino,
and operates one of the largest Materials Recovery
and Waste Transfer Station facilities in North America
(CVT). Together, our solid waste and recycling services
impact the daily lives of millions of Southern Californians.
Consolidated is the
2nd largest integrated waste management company in
Los Angeles County. This, in part, is due to the fact
that the vast majority of our employee base comes
from the many companies we have merged with and that
were rooted in the service history of the Los Angeles
marketplace. We have strived to maintain the unique
personality and spirit of these many companies and
their employees, while benefiting from their combined
resources, knowledge and experience. There is no other
company in Los Angeles County that blends these same
attributes into a single cohesive operating unit.
In the Los Angeles
County area, Consolidated operates 24 exclusive municipal
franchise contracts as well as a number of non-exclusive
franchise contracts. The company owns and operates
a materials recovery facility, three transfer stations
and one of the largest landfills in the United States.
From our operating facilities in Long Beach, Los Angeles,
Gardena, and the San Fernando Valley, and our corporate
office in Santa Fe Springs, the company manages over
350 trucks and 800 employees. Locally, Consolidated
provides waste collection, yard waste, recycling and
disposal services to over 1,000,000 residents, and
commercial waste collection and recycling services
to about 40,000 commercial businesses.
